Maryland police officer injured in interstate collision

Interstate highways and other limited-access roads, which provide efficient and fast transport around the country, are home to millions of vehicles that have to cooperate to maintain safety. Occasional accidents are almost inevitable, and law enforcement officers and emergency services personnel are often the first to respond.

It is always unfortunate to learn of an injury or death on the roads, and victims of injury or the survivors of fatalities in accidents often find themselves on the hook for medical expenses as well as repairs to vehicles and property. An attorney with experience in personal injury and road-related charges may be a good representative for people in this situation.

A police officer in Baltimore was recently injured when he was responding to an earlier car crash on the southbound half of Interstate 83. A motorist struck his patrol car at significant speed while the officer was supervising the towing of a vehicle that had been struck earlier.

The incident took place in broad daylight just before noon, and the expressway was closed in the southbound direction for more than an hour as the officer was evacuated and the obstructions on the road cleared. The officer's injuries did not appear life-threatening, although he remained in the hospital for some time after the collision.

The Baltimore Police issued a statement on social media referring to the incident and reminding drivers to slow down or move over one lane when emergency vehicles are parked on the road. This is good advice to avoid collisions and injuries on interstate highways.
