A tragic accident happened in Maryland on a recent Monday evening at 9 p.m. The car accident involved a blue Subaru Outback that police say was stolen. Troopers tried to pull over the stolen vehicle, but it refused to come to a stop and — instead — it made a U-turn and sped away from police in the opposite direction.

As the fleeing driver continued down the road, the pursuing trooper decided to break off his pursuit. The driver then slowed down at a red light and continued on his way. Soon, another trooper approached the driver and tried to stop him. The driver tried to flee a second time, but police threw down stop sticks. Stop sticks are special devices designed to slow vehicles down and prevent them from moving forward by blowing out their tires. The driver struck the stop sticks and blew out two tires. However, the driver continued on in spite of the blown out tires and eventually made it into Hartford County, when he lost control. He soon struck a light pole, which left his car disabled.

Two of the people in the car were seriously injured and rushed to the hospital by police. Another was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, but he was later pronounced dead after doctors were unable to save him.

The loss of life and injuries in this crash are truly tragic. Victims of the crash, however, and their family members may have the ability to pursue financial compensation in court. Victims may also want to consider various options for who may be liable for the accident and injuries. For one, it’s possible that the driver of the vehicle is liable.
