DC Pedestrian Death – 11/26/25

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 26, 2025, 29 year old Jal Chuol Pinuieny was struck and killed by a WMATA bus traveling northbound on the 4200 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast. According to a press release from DC Metro PD, Mr. Pinuieny had no fixed address and is believed to have “fallen into” the road shortly before the crash which ended his life.

The WMATA bus driver stayed on the scene and dialed 911 to summon police and emergency medical services. The driver even began directing traffic in the vicinity of the crash scene. An unidentified pickup truck did not yield and struck Mr. Pinuieny a second time before fleeing the scene.

Hit and Run Hazards

Making sure your own insurance policy includes uninsured motorist coverage is the simplest and quickest way to get financial compensation after being the victim of a hit-and-run incident. In the event of an accident with an uninsured driver, your insurance provider will cover your and your passengers’ medical expenses, as the term suggests.

Uninsured motorist coverage typically covers you outside of your vehicle. In the event of a pedestrian collision involving a hit and run driver, this policy item will typically be applicable.

If You’ve Been Involved in a Hit and Run

After a hit-and-run, time is of the essence. Take the following actions to safeguard your legal rights and health:

  • Report the collision and ask for medical assistance if necessary by dialing 911 right away.
  • Make a note of whatever information you can recall about the running car, such as its color, manufacture, and license plate numbers.
  • Ask any witnesses in the area for their contact details.
  • Take pictures of your injuries, the location, and any damage to your car.
  • Even if you initially feel “okay,” get medical help.
  • Before contacting any insurance company, get in touch with a personal injury lawyer.

You can start your claim without waiting for the police to locate the other driver. Your case will be stronger the sooner you take action.
