Frederick Truck Crash – 10/8/2025

The first accident of the evening in Frederick County took place around 2:15 AM, on St. Paul Road near Hancock. A truck carrying thousands of pounds of lettuce overturned in a work zone and blocked all eastbound lanes until police and emergency services could clear the wreck. Given the difficult circumstances American farmers have been facing in recent months, this incident is especially unfortunate. No injuries have been reported from this crash.

Later in the evening, a second, more serious incident would occur. Just past exit 62 in the vicinity of New Market, between 3:30 and 4:30 AM on October 8th, a Ford Escape collided with a tractor-trailer truck, sending one vehicle into the treeline adjacent to the highway and injuring the driver of the Ford. First responders requested a medical helicopter to transport the driver of the Ford to receive medical attention. However, the driving rains kept the helicopter grounded and the driver was eventually extracted by an ambulance.

The interstate reopened at 7 AM.
