Prince William County Motorcycle Accident – 11/01/25

On the night of November 1, 2025, Prince William county police identified nineteen year old Edwin Stephen Essiaw of Manassas, VA riding a Kawasaki ZX-6R motorcycle southbound in excess of the speed limit. When the officer attempted to stop the speeding motorcycle, Essiaw allegedly dimmed his headlights and accelerated, in an apparent attempt to evade police. The Kawasaki collided with a Nissan Sentra turning onto Nokesville Road from Linton Hall Road. Essiaw was taken to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Nissan, a fifty year old woman, was treated for minor injuries.

Edwin Stephen Essiaw’s tragic death should serve as a warning to motorcyclists of all ages and experience levels to ride within the speed limit and obey police instructions if stopped. What exactly the young man was thinking at the time of the accident is unknowable, but his conduct paints law-abiding motorcyclists everywhere in a negative light, and contributes to the negative public perception around two-wheeled motorists.

If You’ve Suffered a Motorcycle Accident

  • Guarantee Your Health – Seek medical attention ASAP if you suspect you’ve sustained even minor injuries.
  • Call 911 – A police report is a written account of your accident created by an impartial third party.
  • Pull Your Bike Out of Traffic – It goes without saying that this might not be possible if you or your motorcycle are rendered immobile by damage or collision with another vehicle.
  • Exchange Contact Details – Contact details and insurance information should be shared between all drivers involved in the collision.
  • Take Pictures – Documenting the scene “as-is” in the immediate aftermath of the accident can be very useful in pursuing an insurance claim, criminal charges, or a personal injury lawsuit against the drunk driver
  • Collect Witness Statements – If any eyewitnesses are present at the scene of the accident, their testimony can prove invaluable. Collect their names and contact details if they seem cooperative.
