We here at Malloy Law are excited to announce sweeping changes to our regular calendar of blog posts. In addition to the informative, educational Monday blogs which you and other Malloy clients and safety-conscious citizens have supported for years, you’ll now receive a second weekly blog on Fridays. It’s our hope that this expanded approach will allow us a greater ability to address the concerns of our clients and community, while still providing the same great content you’ve come to expect. For this inaugural Friday post, we have a Malloy news brief on a recent pedestrian accident in Silver Spring, Maryland.
In addition to the often-severe physical toll a pedestrian accident can take, victims of pedestrian accidents can face a lengthy rehab, exorbitant medical bills, long term lost wages, and emotional trauma. This Malloy news brief will cover the details of this unfortunate accident and explain how the expertise of a personal injury attorney can be the difference maker when seeking compensation.
On the night of Sunday, September 19, 2025, a thirteen year old Montgomery County girl was attempting to cross Georgia Avenue southbound at the Evans Drive intersection, just south of the Wheaton Mall, when she was struck by the driver of a 2004 Acura TL. The circumstances leading to the crash are still under investigation by Montgomery County Police. The thirteen year old sustained serious injuries, but is in stable condition after being rushed to Children’s National Hospital in Washington DC. The police response to the incident closed Georgia Avenue between Plyers Mill Road and Evans Drive for three hours after the collision.
This is the third in a series of unfortunate pedestrian accidents involving children in the county, as the recent deaths of a Kensington high school baseball player and a Rockville middle schooler, killed by a school bus while riding her bike, have both taken place within the past two months.
The unfortunate realities of DMV area infrastructure make interactions between pedestrians and automobiles a part of everyday life. We here at Malloy Law are longtime advocates for pedestrian safety and encourage every parent in our region to instill an attitude of caution around traffic in their children. While it would be deeply unethical to speculate on any detail of this tragic accident, it is our sincere hope that the young woman involved makes a full recovery and that justice, whatever that may be, is served.
